A two-tiered, appealing and busy spot in downtown Halifax, The Stubborn Goat may have, at certain angles, the look of a sports bar. However, the food is a cut above, with traditional favourites brightened up with fresh new spins: For example, the watermelon ricotta salad features port-soaked watermelon, while the arugula Caesar comes with sourdough crostini and crisp anchovy. Gluten-free options abound, and there are plenty of wonderful drinks to go with whatever you order.
If you’re looking for something that isn’t run-of-the-mill, this is a great place to take foodies. The Goat’s menu is definitely original and very creative, so everyone in your party is bound to find something they’ve never had before. Some tables offer privacy for more confidential or sensitive business discussions, so be sure to put in a special request if that’s what you’re looking for.
The Goat serves up killer, original meals (just check out their Instagram account for some drool-worthy examples) and brunch is no exception. In the summertime, they have a charming patio with flowers and sunshine galore. They also serve up chilaquiles – basically fried eggs over nachos with guacamole – that will change your life. Okay, not really… but you get the idea. Make sure you order a Caesar too – theirs are definitely a step above the rest.
