I was sadly dissapointed with my dining experience. The waiter and staff were fantastic, and it was a lovely atmosphere. Since being a vegetarian, the waiter suggested the chef make a mushroom risotto. I asked if it would be a sticky risotto and he said no problem. It was was terrible. There was no flavor. It tasted like an unsalted runny mushroom broth wother bland, not sticky starchy rice. I haven't been out for dinner in a year (young kids), so I was so excited for a nicwhile fine dining meal
My husband and I tried this restaurant after a strong recommendation from a friend. He was extremely impressed, me not so much. I understand that not all restaurants understand how to make a flavourful vegetarian meal, but based on the reviews this place was garnering, I had hopes. Not high ones, thankfully. I was bored by my meal (which was, of course, pasta. The only other vegetarian option was pasta as well). I refuse to believe that the only reasonable food options for a veggie have to be at a specialty place- Vegetarians are hardly a fringe group in this day and age. Service should include all members of a group, not just a few. Hopefully someone will take note, and challenge themselves to use unique ingredients or aromatics for flavour, not just animals.
My husband and I dined at La Casa on Saturday night. We started with Mussels for appetizer - delicious...I wanted to drink the sauce it was so good. We also shared a Ceasar Salad. The dressing was very nice, perhaps a bit too much garlic (a little too overwhelming). Still tasty though. I ordered lobster pasta, all I can say is DELICIOUS! So tasty. I brought some home and was looking forward to eating it again the next day for lunch. My husband ordered beef tenderloin. Again, delicious! Tender, perfectly cooked and tasty. The waiter was very professional and friendly. We had a great time and a fantastic meal. No wonder La Casa is still one of the best restaurant's in London. It's so nice to go out for dinner and receive a great meal. The meals are not pretentious or overpriced (unlike other London restaurants in the downtown area). The food is simply delicious. Thank you for a great night out!
Homey, relaxed atmosphere and friendly service by fellow with thick accent. Funny guy who made dinner more fun.
A friend recommended this restaurant. After calling I realized its a busy place! Apparently there was a concert so we took a late reservation of 8pm. At first I was not impressed. Tables were not set. There were many groups with reservations waiting and lots of empty tables in the restaurant. I didnt think the staff was very efficient. I was ready to walk out the door but at 830 where would I go? I just waited and waited will I was seated. Everything went wrong and service was lousy. But I gave them a chance. Service did kicked up a notch. I guess they were having a bad and busy night. But at the end I may say the food is very good and the desert amazing. I would definitely go back!..
We visited La Casa Saturday evening, Jan. 31. Very busy, even for 8pm. Very noisy due to a party of 8 being very loud and boisterous. It really degraded the atmosphere. Especially when the staff warned this party to tone it down. Food was fantastic and we will visit again. Hopefully it's much more subdued next time around. This is a great restaurant!!!
Really nice place, really classy. Well, at least for a grad student like myself. Meals tasted good, especially the mussels. The staff was helpful and nice, a bit too formal maybe.
My boyfriend & I visit this restaurant on special ocassions. This restaurant is beyond one of our favourites. We decided to try out this restaurant two years ago, and ever since then, we were hooked. The different flavours of various dishes are well put together. I am surprised to see the negative comments about this restaurant! These people are of one or two things....(1.) Lack taste buds.....(2.) Do not enjoy any types of foods..unless they are bland.
Nice sandwich, decent price, good ambience, good service. I'm perplexed by certain reviews offended by the service or cost -what are they expecting?
Just glancing through some old reviews, we can't believe the vast discrepancies in ratings, especially from some people who obviously didn't even taste any food. How can you give a 1 for food if you didn't order any ? Anyways, we hadn't been to La Casa for a couple of months and it's good to know that the wine and food are as delicious as they've always been. In fact the veal and tilapia were the best we've had anywhere and the service (Peter?) was excellent. We'll be back very soon.
For less than $30 each we enjoyed such a wonderful variety of flavours. The minestrone was so hearty and tasty with the little bowtie pasta. The tomato napoleon tasted so refreshing with nicely ripened tomato slices, not those plastic tasting ones. What can we say about the pasta? The braised lamb in the straccetti was so tender it just melted in your mouth, and the lobster tag was simply delicious, with chunks of real lobster. The best pastas in town and friendly service from Tanya. We had a great lunch.
The salads were so fresh and tasty - a fine prelude to a couple of delicious entrees. The salmon special came with a wonderful broth heavy with a variety of mushrooms and a jumbo prawn on top. The lasagna was the best I've ever tasted: meaty, cheesy and totally flavourful. The lasagna dessert was an incredibly sweet treat. The rhubarb must have been picked fresh that morning. Service was smooth and courteous, with a timing that seemed to fit our evening perfectly.
Not what we expected. For this kind of money it was far from the mark. Will not be returning.
We received exemplary service from an beautiful waitress named Patricia. The food was excellent as usual. We love this restaurant!!! It is by far the best in London.
La Casa is appropriately named - its like being at home - relaxed and the food is presented with such supreme simplicity - but the taste - wow! I would bring my family there time after time - now I feel like a friend to the restaurant, not a guest... I look forward to my next visit "home" !
This was the night of the Michael Buble concert and the restaurant was packed, I went at 9:00pm and decided to sit at the bar. Service was great and the Calamari appetizer was excellent, this is my favourite Calamari dish! I tried the Rissotto dish from the new menu and it was excellent - a nice blend of flavours and a nice light sauce, I would highly recommend this dish!! As always an excellent dining experience at La Casa!!
We went to La Casa prior to the concert on Monday night and the restaurant was packed! Despite being extremely busy we were promptly served and the food and service was wonderful as always! We will be definately going back as this is our favourite restaurant in the city!!
too peppery... the food is not at the level it should be too be charging those prices... the service staff is just not good. and it is as simple as that. they have probably never worked anywhere else. they have no personality been there a few times and everytime they let us down. they need to learn how to interact. fine dining does not imply being a cold person. just not a good restaruant. the atmospher is nice but the glass on the tables is tacky.
server was an older man.... not a pleasant personality...was even rude to someone who came into the door who ended up leaving because of this. we witnesses him having a temper spurt on one of the other waiters. the salmon was overcooked, and the tiramisu was melting to the point they presented it in a bowl. would not go back, the service was not at the standard i expected it would be, and the food was below average for the prices charged
amazing food and service... such quality and high standards... one of the best in london.. def will go back
