Great service, excellent value for money! Highly recommend...
Two small pizzas cost $41, and when we paid I gave the waitress $60 and told her to bring the change, and I would leave her a tip from it. We waited for our change for about five minutes, after which we realized that she had kept the $19 change as her tip. We left rather angry.
Three different people attended to us during the evening; they all seemed rushed and didnt pay much attention to what we were saying. They got our dinner order mixed up with somebody else's. By the time one of us finished, the other's dinner arrived. It was cold. Was it sitting on someone else's table and returned! Surely the fact that the resatuarant was full wasnt sufficient excuse for such poor service! We attend plays at least four times at Niagara on the lake every year; we are certain we will never back to this restaurant again.
My wife and I along with another couple tried this restaurant this past weekend. It must be a hot spot on saturday nights because the line-up was out the door. We didn't make a reservation which was our fault. The wait wasn't too long, maybe 30 mins? We all shared a few dishes. Baked brie, bread with dip platter, barbecue chicken pizza and pepperoni pizza. We were happy with our selections, and even more grateful that our server got us out in time for our 8:00 show.
I recently visited the Bistro 61 and was very pleased. The food was amazing, the service was excellent and the prices were very reasonable (for Niagara on the Lake). The seafood pasta was very rich. We were served by Monica, who suggested the grilled calamari, which was absolutely delicious. Wine prices were not unreasonable. We have been back many times. They have also had a good selection during the winter food festival (set price menu). The last comment noted that washrooms were in the basement. My friend had a broken leg when we were there last...I believe that there is a restroom on the main floor...? Most definitely our top choice in NOTL.
We waited sometime to be seated. The restaurant was half full throughout our visit. The menu does not show prices for non-alcoholic drinks and it should. Prices are slightly higher than you might expect, but that is likely because it is in a convenient tourist area. We waited 45 minutes for our food to arrive! This was too long for two hamburgers. The server was friendly, and offered up the excuse that it takes a long time to cook burgers as according to Ontario law. Maybe he figured we were tourists (?) They were tasty, but not worth that long wait. Please note, restrooms are in the basement which is poor planning for seniors or those with disabilities. There is no elevator access to them either. The restaurant leaves the front door open even in hot weather to encourage people to come in, unfortunately it also invites flies in and wastes air conditioning.
