Manager at LaChilenita de la Montagne since 2006, Cristian Cano has a much longer history here. “I worked about 12 years for LaChilenita before coming to run this location. We started in 1991, founded by Bernarda Lara, who simply wanted to bring Chilean food to our local community.” Initially accomplishing that feat, LaChilenita has developed to satisfy the tastes of its local neighbourhood. “At first, the fact that we were getting lot of requests for vegetarian food led us to add to our menu, but ultimately the inclusion of Mexican and other Latin American dishes really drew people in.”
Not to be outdone, Chilean cuisine has always stolen the show and always will at LaChilenita, however it’s the combination of cuisines that keeps people coming back. “I think the variety allows people to comfortably discover the menu. You never know what people are in the mood for, but we do everything well enough that there is always something to satisfy, and our customers’ loyalty only attests to that!”
