Chiropractic
Chiropractic is a non-invasive, hands-on health care discipline that focuses on the musculoskeletal system. Chiropractors practice a manual, hands on approach to muscular dysfunction, pain and injury by providing a diagnosis after a comprehensive evaluation. Treatment and preventive care for disorders related to the spine, pelvis, nervous system and joints is then recommended and may include referrals to other healthcare disciplines including but not limited to primary care physicians (family doctors), physiotherapists, dieticians etc. or modification of activity and even referral for additional imaging studies to be completed (Xrays, CT scans, MRI, diagnostic ultrasounds etc.). Our chiropractors will work with your other health care providers to enhance your treatment when necessary.
Chiropractors use a combination of treatments, all of which are predicated on the specific needs of the individual patient. For many conditions, such as lower back pain, chiropractic care is frequently the primary method of treatment. Where other conditions exist, chiropractic care may complement or support medical treatment by relieving the musculoskeletal aspects associated with the condition. Chiropractic care may also be used to provide symptomatic relief for patients with chronic conditions. According to patient surveys, by treating the musculoskeletal elements of such disorders, chiropractic treatment has been shown to improve the general well-being of the patient.
Animal Chiropractic
Much like human chiropractic, animal chiropractic is a non-invasive, hands-on treatment option for animals and pets alike. While focussing on the musculoskeletal system, animal chiropractic can help relieve pain and stiffness, while increasing mobility and range of motion in your pet. A few signs that your pet may be in pain include reluctance to jump on/off furniture or in/out of the car, yelping upon movement, sensitivity to touch, or limping.
An animal chiropractor will conduct a thorough investigation to determine where the pain is coming from and treat your pet accordingly using chiropractic adjustments, mobilizations, soft tissue therapy and exercise prescriptions. It is important to note that animal chiropractic does not replace regular veterinary care and Dr. Liv may refer you back to your vet if she determines that your case may be out of her scope of practice.
Fascial Stretch Therapy
Fascial stretch therapy helps deal with mobility and chronic pain issues. It is a relatively new form of treatment that involves the therapist performing assisted stretching techniques with a client on a treatment table or floor. Comfortable straps help stabilize the limb or part of the body that is not being stretched in order to facilitate complete relaxation and to enhance the effectiveness of the stretches.
Massage Therapy
Massage therapy is manual manipulation of the body's soft tissues (muscle, connective tissue, tendons and ligaments) to enhance a person's health, well being and overall function.
Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is a mental health discipline that provides a judgement free environment for clients to explore their relationships, environments, and identify patterns that may be holding them back from the life they wish to have. Recognizing these struggles and taking this courageous step is just the beginning of the journey toward deeper self-discovery and adaptive change. Psychotherapy / counselling can help with anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, family conflict, grief, motivation, relationship, stress and substance abuse. Book your session right away if you believe psychotherapy is a good fit for you or schedule a one on one FREE consultation if you have any questions or concerns before booking.
Naturopathic Medicine
Naturopathic medicine uses the traditional healing wisdom of "nature cure" - accessing the healing power of nature to support the body's own innate ability to heal.
Naturopathic medicine views the body’s physiology as interconnected, rather than isolated systems. The treatment strategy is based on normalizing functionality by bringing the body’s physiology and biochemistry back into balance.
Naturopathic doctors look at your patterns and symptoms, your health history and lifestyle, physical exam, and laboratory testing to interpret what it's telling us.
Virtual Naturopathic Medicine
**These sessions are done completely online and will be completed over the phone or through our private and secure online video conferencing portal**
