Menswear spots in Toronto to find the perfect winter jacket

Finding a jacket that looks good, is well tailored, and offers enough function to suit your needs is essential to living the daily urban grind of Toronto. From hopping on and off the subway, or in and out of office buildings and coffee shops, a good jacket is made to work with your busy schedule. But finding your winter companion in coat form doesn’t have to be a daunting task – just check out these sweet menswear spots.

Rudsak

1
315 Queen St W, Toronto, ON M5V 2A4

Canadian designer label RUDSAK has come a long way since its opening in Montreal a few decades ago. Staying true to their rock n’ roll inspiration, the brand produces some of the best leather and wool winter coats in North America, and purchasing one can be considered an investment piece because of the outstanding quality and durable fabrics. Seriously, you’ll be wearing it for years.

Harry Rosen Menswear

2
82 Bloor St W, Toronto, ON M5S 1L9

One of our favourite menswear stores in the city has to be menswear-chain-from-heaven, Harry Rosen. The Canadian retailer has been a supplier of some of the most coveted designers and brands for men in Canada for over 50 years. The coat and jacket selection at their Bloor street location has become a destination for men in Toronto, carrying a selection of Canada Goose, Parajumper, Moncler, Burberry, Versace and more.

Due West Clothing Co/next door

3
431 Queen St W, Toronto, ON M5V 2A5

Due West has been offering fine leather goods since 1973 and has grown to become a Toronto staple on the busy Queen Street West shopping district. While their store has grown to include clothing, shoes, and denim, we love their selection of coats and jackets on offer each year. Only premium outwear brands make it to the shop’s racks, including brands like Canada Goose, Moose Knuckle, G Lab, and Canadian designer label Mackage.

Sporting Life Inc.

4
001 Yonge Street 2665 Young Street, Toronto, ON M4P 2L6

Located outside of Toronto’s downtown core, The Sporting Life has been a staple in the uptown Yonge and Eglinton area for over 30 years. Their large selection of sporty coats and warm layering pieces are selected from brands like Patagonia, The North Face, Moncler, Barbour, Woolrich and more. The Sporting Life has grown in the past few years and offers new stores around Toronto, but we have always loved this sprawling location that offers over 36,000 square feet of shopping space across two floors.

Doc's Leathers & Motorcycles Gear

5
726 Queen St W, Toronto, ON M6J 1E8

This Queen West is a little more specific in its offerings. It’s geared toward those who need a true motorcycle jacket. We have known a few motorcycle riders over the years and we know better to expect them to park their two-wheelers away for winter, just because the temperature drops. Operating for over 60 years in downtown Toronto, Doc’s Leather is still a go-to spot for functional and high-quality leather jackets and goods, and well, a truly badass look.

Hudson's Bay

6
176 Yonge St, Toronto, ON M5C 2L7

Hudson’s Bay’s flagship location has been undergoing some amazing renovations, transforming their menswear section into a sprawling home for everything men’s fashion related. Moving to its new location on the fifth floor, the menswear department has introduced new labels and brands that can only be found at HBC. This means that their jacket and coat offerings are the best it has been in decades!

Lavish & Squalor

7
253 Queen St W, Toronto, ON M5V 1Z4

Operating out of their cool, two-floor shop in Toronto’s busy Queen Street West shopping district, Lavish & Squalor offers a selection of Canadiana classics that help Toronto shoppers get geared up for winter. While the ladies section tends to be larger than the men’s section, that doesn’t mean their selection of menswear is any less amazing. While the store usually stocks blazers and other coats, their winter jacket selection is definitely worth checking out.
