Fido: The Hotel California of Wireless Providers – You Can Check Out, But You Can’t Leave
Imagine this: for 2.5 months, I’ve been trying to leave Fido, but they won’t let me go. 14 failed porting requests later, I’m still stuck, bleeding money while they happily keep charging me for a service I don’t want.
Why? Because their system requires an OTP (One-Time Passcode) via text to approve the transfer. Sounds simple, right? Wrong. If you’re out of the country or unable to receive that text, gue
The staff member I dealt with seemed helpful at first. Promising me a 16 gig iPhone 4 for free when adding a new line. It was only after giving my girlfriend her phone and setting it up the next day I discovered it was an 8 gig was given to me. I returned to the store only to find out the 16 is no longer available. The manager was rude and unapologetic and did nothing to rectify the situation. In the end I cancelled the new contract returned the phone and left with nothing.
Rogers Video also has a Rogers Plus inside of it. The staff that work at the wireless section are very unprofessional and I would not recommend going there if you need any help. I went there last week and the staff member took my cellphone without my permission and began to demonstrate to another customer why you need the extended warranty. The stock is also very limited as well. On the other hand the staff that work at the Rogers video are very friendly and always welcome you when you go in.
