The synergy between the mother-and-daughter team of Jessie Jones and Trish Mursky at Shambhala Tattoo makes for a great business. Since they bought the company from the previous owner in 2001, Jessie has focused on the tattoo and piercing side of the operation, while Trish works the business side. What connects them is their shared love of tattoos and piercings.
“I started as a body piercer before tattooing,” Jessie says. “I’ve always had an interest in tattoos and piercings. Once I had enough experience in piercing, I started a tattoo apprenticeship at Shambhala Tattoo, where my mom was working, a year before we bought it.”
“It was a complete coincidence that she started working at the same shop,” Trish says. “I have a fine arts degree; I love people, and I love tattoos. When thinking about how to combine at least two of those three ideals, tattooing seemed like a great combination. I love it.”
