The little bistro is located West of Granville Street. Try to get outdoor seating if the weather is ok. the servings are small - if hungry you might need to order 2 courses. All three of us did and we all got served great food.

8 Vancouver brunch restaurants for amazing eggs Benedict

Like a new favourite band you don’t quite want everyone to know about, Salade De Fruits is bafflingly accessible for weekend brunches: there aren’t queues out the door, but there should be. This hidden gem just off South Granville specializes in traditional French cooking. As you’d expect, their eggs Benny with accompanying herbed potatoes is wipe-the-plate-clean delicious. For a truly decadent experience, choose the lobster eggs Benny served on a buttery croissant. Oh là là!

Part of the French Cultural Centre, Café Salade de Fruits cooks up traditional French dishes available as a table d’hote menu or a la carte. The south-facing patio on quiet 7th Ave. is a great place to sip a pastis in the sun or tuck into some escargots or crème brulée.

Mussel your way in: Vancouver restaurants for moules-frites

Mussel your way in: Vancouver restaurants for moules-frites

You can expect the café at the French Cultural Centre to know a thing or two about French cooking. Their mussels are no exception. Served in a massive pot with nary a closed or empty shell in sight, these are best shared as an appetizer with the table before your equally tasty main courses. Their white wine sauce is amped up with cream, which the French never shy away from, and the richness is nicely cut with their thin salty frites. A winner.
