I hv bn going to Selkirk vet for years & am on my 3rd dog there. Loved the expertise of dr Penner who recently left. I hv had a few problems with desk staff & a vet tech as well as some interaction with dr kluge who sometimes doesn’t listen to what you hv to say. Last week I tried to make an appt for my dog who had a bladder infection & was uncomfortable. I could not get an appt until 5 days later. I also had other numerous problems. An x-ray taken by dr klug was not positioned properly.

Not taking my animals back here after getting bad advice then them getting upset and yelling at us when we listen to them. Once we made the decision to not go back they called animal control stating that there was a suffering animal in my house.

Best spay & neuter prices within an hour of Selkirk. The entire staff was friendly, courteous and went above and beyond to accommodate the impossibility of scheduling 5 feral cats. Excellent care and consideration.

only thing I have to say-we have been taking our dog here for 12 years (since we have him). been quite pleased-however, my only concern is that they seem to think my dog is a husky (he is a malamute) mals are almost double the size of huskies.they keep telling me he is overweight by about 25 to 30 lbs.he might be a few lbs over, but certainly not by 25/30 lbs! he is an outside dog, he needs some extra food over winter to survive being outside overnight when it gets to be 40 below here.

We have been going here for years and appreciate Dr. Klug’s expertise and genuine compassion for our pets. We know they are receiving the best care possible. When we had to put our cat down they were so kind and empathetic. We recently found a turtle that got run over, we emailed after hours and received a quick response we brought him in the next morning, Dr. Klug fixed him up and got him into a rehabilitation centre and of course did not charge us, she cares about all animals.

Every time I walk into this clinic lately I feel like it’s fronting for a used car dealership. Some of the front desk staff as well as Dr. Klug try to push all sorts of medicine, grooming products, food, and procedures on us. It’s like they’ve been told to up sell as much as possible in order to get a commission. We know our pet’s personality and history better than anyone (as our dog has lived with us her whole life), yet Dr. Klug refuses to listen to us. I will likely be going elsewhere now.

    I have been takin...

I have been taking my two dogs to see Dr. Klug for over five years. She is skilled and really cares about dogs. When a friend had to have a dog put down there, she was so empathic. Compared to city vet prices, she is very reasonable. I would, and have, recommended her to every pet owner I know.

    Will not be returning....

Dr. Bertie Klug knows very little about dogs. Especially Large breed dogs (I believe she specializes in cats and birds). She can be extremely rude to owners, and when she makes a mistake (Example - re-dressing a broken leg - she placed my dog's cast upside down and backwards causing an infection) she actually blamed MY DOG and said "she must've turned it around somehow". She also talked us into spaying our giant breed girl before she had her first cycle against the contractual agreement we signed with our breeder, stating that it was for the dog's own good. we listened, reluctantly, and sure regretted it afterwards, seeing as that is not advised for giant breed dogs... for many reasons. So in conclusion, the other staff at the office are great, and I cannot say that they are not caring. They love animals, but I can say with confidence that Dr. Klug doesn't know much about large breed dogs. And their prices are definitely high, compared to other vet offices.
