Great service, loved the food.
I feel violated after eating here. whoever says the food is good have never eaten indian foad. The quantities are tiny which is a good thing because food taste like rotan dear carcas. Naan was under cooked and every itemwe ordered chicken tikka masala, bhuna shirmp, Chana masala, Mutton cury was so bad we was not able to eat more than one bite. Never ever go there buy redymade from metro because in comparison it taste way better. Indian resturant in hamilton go to Himalya at centenial prk way its way better.

Yea! If you like to eat as a home made food in a restaurant, You never get it. Any way thanks for your comment. Always we served best and good quality food to our guest.
Love the atmosphere, traditional Indian style! Service was great, both servers were on top of everything and worked together. I love that the owner takes time to talk to everyone and welcomes them and asks how everything is. Food is amazing! Very well priced and flavourful! Washrooms could be updated, but not a deterrent for me. I have been going to Gate of India for over 8 years now and my grandfather has been going there for years!!
Just went here for supper after browsing reviews and want to go back as soon as possible! We had one of the for 2 dinners, it was listed as option CC. It came with samosas and onion Bhaji first, then a whole table full of delicious curries with naan and rice. We got a something that looked like a timbit for dessert, was good too. There was more than the two of us could manage and they were happy to send us home with a neatly packed doggy bag. The service started off slow but they were very nice and pleasant with us and the food was hot and arrived pretty quick. Decor is typical Indian restaurant style, clean and simple. Really great food!
awesome food great service and beautiful cuisine with soft instrumental music.....just love the food and the atmosphere....the food is like as u want.....just try it u'll definitely love it....
I just loved the food there! I just wanna go there all the time! It's really quiet there. Except for the music but it's classical Indian music. It was very calm. And the food didn't take a long time to come. Well it didn't come super fast, but you know what I mean. Sometimes the food is spicy, usually the curries are spicy. But if you don't want it spicy, just tell them. If you come there a lot, they begin to make friendship with you. I must say the waiter is very nice! They are from and country called Bangladesh they said. The first time I went, I ordered something small just to try. I ordered 2 Samosas, 1 order of Butter Chicken, and 2 Naan's. It was very tasty! And the picture and decoration looks very beautiful! I go there all the time now.
This restaurant was like awesome!!!!!!!!!!! I loved there food. If want it spicy then it's spicy if you want it mild then they'll give you mild. It's a great place. I go there regularly these days. I love there service, very nice people.
I highly recommend this restaurant. Why?? Well you will know once you enter the restaurant and order and eat! Lovin' the food and prices. I don't find the food un-spicy. I think it is really spicy but I enjoy it being spicy. It is really good. I will definitely and hope to come back there to eat and I am for sure about that because I eat there frequently! =]
Wow, I held a party in GOI and it was terrific! The food was awesome and I love it like totally. I also asked my friends if they enjoyed it and the totally loved. I was sure if I held a party like that, it would be awesome. GOI satisfied me and my friends. Definitely will eat there again. GOI, hope you'll remember me! ;)
I absolutely love Gate of India's food. Great food, Great services, and great prices. Sure it may be a little quiet, but you can look at the good sides of it. Also, I really loved the Butter Chicken. I thought it actually had butter in it, but turns out, there isn't. I would definitely come back again. My friend recommended it to me and thank god she did. If you are in a mood for Indian Food, try out Gate of India. Also, beware, some food gets spicy but if you ask not to make it spicy, they will tone it down. Perfect! But I like it spicy, and I can taste the food more when it is spicy. So if you want Indian food, I am telling you right now Gate of India is the best Indian Food Restaurant I stepped in and ate at. I highly recommend all of you to eat there and you wont forget the taste! =]
The decor is a bit old but it's clean and there is a candle on ever table, I like that. The service was friendly, informative and professional. The food was great. The food was the best I've had in a while and certainly some of the top indian food ever. The 3 dishes we got were all very great, especially the soup. The naan was great too, another reviewer said it was bad, but he/she got it delivered - maybe it was old? I recommend and would return for sure.
The Dinner food was better than I thought. I am going to come to Gate of India all the time! They have to best food ever. If you want to go to a restaurant, go to Gate Of India Hamilton. Which is in downtown.
Good Samosas! Main courses were acceptable, if mildly spiced for my tastes. Patak's canned sauces are about as tasty than what I was served. Still, very reasonably priced, and they do deliver. Disturbing was the interruption of our meal by a deaf/mute panhandler! Considering our waiter's reaction it wasn't the first time she'd pulled that stunt. Location NOT a plus for dining out! Still desperately missing Taste Of Taj Mahal. Why do the good restaurants always close!
They were quiet today but that's par for the Indian course for weekday lunches. The decor is fine, the service prompt and friendly, the food was good and their prices seem very reasonable. I'll certainly be going there again.
WE enjoyed every bite of our meal - and brought some home too! Restaurant was steadily busy and lots of people coming for take out meals also. Service was very good considering the waiter was being kept very busy. Prices very reasonable.
There was one other party of 2 people in the restaurant and our food took over an hour to arrive (right as we were getting up to leave actually). Regretfully, we sat back down and ate. The chicken was bland despite being supposedly cooked in the sauces. I had high expectations after deciding to visit this place after reading such great reviews on this site. Oh well. Must have been an 'off day'. Not going back though because of the service.
Anyone who doesn't love the Gate clearly doesn't love Indian food. Easily the best Indian food in Hamilton (possibly the best service, too - there were two kids under 3 in our party, and they had at least as much fun as the rest of us!)
Fantastic food and service. Hands down the best Indian Food in the Hamilton area! Definately returning - again and again!
great tasting food with plenty to spare for the next day
The service was very attentive and the decor was very pleasant and serene. The temperature was cool. We came at a time when there were few people. There was only 1 other couple dining at that time. That made the dining experience enjoyable. Compared to many other Indian restaurants, G.o.I. is more balanced and has a subtle flavours. The dishes were well presented and portioned. The prices were generally higher than other comparable Indian restaurants but well worth it. Complimentary chips whetted my appitite. And all the flavours seems to fit togethor like a jigsaw puzzle. The Chicken liver with salad was amazing. Perfect preparation of liver is truly a sign of an expert chef. One spicy dish and one savoury complimented the sides of rice and naan. Everything was served in a timely manner which allowed some conversation time before the meal. Drinks were served right away and water was readily available. Would recommend this restaurant for a finer dining experience and for those who want a fore into International cuisine.
