Amazing Panzerotti!!

I have been a huge fan of Tonys for years. Been going to the location on Dundas for ages and this place is so classic Italian its such a London landmark. The portions are huge and I always order the large panzerotti just so I can take some home, awesome the next day. The service is always friendly and some staff have been there for quite awhile which is nice to see. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that wants great Italian food.

crazy high priced

I ordered from there today (May/7th/2010 and they didnt even take my adress down, had to call back 1 hr later and when it finally was delivered it was $30,for a medium deluxe pizza, that is a joke, this place has gone WAY DOWN HILL,would never order from them again, for the price plus service i could get a heck of alot better deal almost anywhere and the difference if food would not be that great, never again.

Springbank Location After reading the reviews for both locations, I was a little nervous but on the advice of a friend , still went. There seems to be only one good waiter in the place... bald guy in his 40s. Really personable and didn't bring the kids refills until they had finished some of their meal (2 and 4 year old) The decor was pretty dated... I don't think it's changed since the late 80s when it was J Ianinis (who still owns it) but whatever. The food was pretty good... huge portions though... which is a thing of the past. The food wasn't the hottest but it was still good. I'd go again but if they could slim down the portion size and cut the prices accordingly, that would be a huge improvement. Also... make the bald waiter the head waiter and have him train everyone else. No one came to cash us out until another male waiter noticed and did this for us.

never again! this place was the worse food ever. i when there with my boyfriend, my sister and her fiance. the food took forever. well over and hour for anything. we ordered antipasto plate. it came without olives and the meat wasn't nice and dry salami was kinda wet like baloney. i ordered diet coke and it wasn't diet coke.. pizza was just gross the crust was sloppy, cheese was hardly melted with canned mushrooms, olives(??? where where you in the antipasto? ) and sausage. just gross we didn't eat it. well never again. went up to pay( would have just walked out but i had to set a good example for my sister) so i start complaining about the food and some guy (burly kitchen folk) frowns and hands me my bill which wasn't brought to the table, by are unenthusiastic waitress.. i pay it like a sap and we all leave, never to return, hungry . overpriced, poor service and well just plan gross!,

From what I have heared they were at one point the place to go. This is NOT the way it is now. the food was just plain bad. The service was the worsed I have ever experenced. and the building was dark and dusty. There where canned mushooms and sauce on on our pizza. I will never go back and I will tell people not to eat there.

used to be great........but not now

My parents used to take my sister and I to Tony's in the 70's. Then it was a fun treat.......now it is horrible. I went with my wife an kids expecting to be amazed and I have to say, we're were horrified. First of all the decor hasn't been changed since the 70's and I don't think the tablecloth had been cleaned since then. I can forgive a lot but not how dirty and dark it was. The meals took an hour and 20 minutes to come and with 2 small kids, it was a challenge to keep them busy. The food when it did arrive was lukewarm. The pasta was overcooked and I think the sauce came out of a can. It was crap. The pizza and panzerotti were lukewarm and the cheese was starting to congeal. The whole meal was inedible. When I complained, they truly didn't care. We left without leaving a tip.......something I've never done. The wait staff was unfriendly and almost to the point of being rude. We'll never go back and now my wife and I have made a point of telling people NOT to go to this restaurant. Open up a can of spagettios and you'll enjoy it more than the food at Tony's.

don't bother

I ordered the deluxe pizza and my husband ordered the Pasta with meat sauce.. The pasta was way overcooked and the sauce watery with no taste. The pizza was greasy and likewarm. I used to go as a kid and I used to love it. We'll never go again and tell friends to avoid this joke of a restaurant like the plague. plus the wait staff was unfriendly and we could tell they didn't care.

they sucked, few times

the one on dundas is a lost cause, if tony could see what his son is doing he'd slap him, warncliff is the place. got a pizza delivered from dundas a few times, once looked like someone slid toppings back on the pizza by hand, ew. my family served these people for years deliving them boxes and stuff, was really ashamed when the owner got rude with us, trust me stay away from dundas, i'll never purchase there again. my wife is management at a large bussiness in london and the owner on dundas treated us like dirt, we'll never go back, sorry rick your bro lost you some good customers. and i told my uncle about what happened and he's appauled to. ask your dad who ken is.

food's good, but not worth the price.

I went to tony's (downtown location) as a kid, so I thought I would go for old times sake. the panzarotti was as good as I remember it. excellent crust! I could actually SEE chunks of italian sausage in it! However, the mushrooms were canned, and the veggies not so fresh. Also, the service was terrible. we waited a long time for our food. The food was very expensive-- way too expensive for the size (we both got small) and quality (most meals were about $15 range including ours which didn't come with bread or salad).

I was craving an excellent fresh panzarotti with top quality toppings and that is what I got. The service wasn't so good though, we had to wait like almost an hour for our food and like 2o minutes for the check after. The waitress wasn't very observant when our drinks ran out she didn't offer refills and I saw people getting their food who came in after we did. I loved the food though so it's a shame the service was so shoddy I think if I go again I will just get take out.

Been going to the restauart since it opened. Always has had the best toppings, sauce and cheese and lots of them. The only thing that is disappointing is that the crust has become harder over the years, solve that problem and it is the best pizza anywhere.

The panzerottis are amazing at Tony's. I've ordered panzerottis from all over and nothing can compare. The food is great and the staff is very friendly. We got our food within about 20 minutes of arriving. We will definitely be going back.

First off the mushrooms were so out of a can and disgusting!! Not to mention the big chunks of cheese and unseparated pepperoni. This fried panzerotti was unsatisfactory and was a chore to eat. If Tony wants my business... It would take a free pizza with fresh ingredients, not canned and packaged, and then maybe I would consider Tony's restaurant again.

This actually all started Last August. My wife...

This actually all started Last August. My wife and I went in with our children and grandchildren We mostly ordered panzarotties. After waiting for more than an hour the food came. For some reason mine had olives which I absolutely hate. The server was very friendly and offered to make me another one. Not wanting to wait an other hour he assured me it would only be about 10 or 15 minutes. To my surprise it was quick. Why it was quick the second time who knows. Any way, when the second one came it also, unbeleivably had olives. As my wife could only eat half of hers I told them nevermind and ate the other half of my wifes panzarotti. On the way out they gave us a gift certificate to return. Well we finally returned yesterday April 15 2007. After a weekend golf getaway in Forest I talked my sister and her boyfriend in to going to get some excellent panarotti. Unfortunatley the visit was a disaster and we never got our food. 3 of us ordered panzarotti and my sister ordered pasta that was supposed to come with salad and unlimited bread. After 45 minutes and asking once, she finally got her salad and one stale bun. After an hour we enquired about our food. The waiter said it was very busy and that we would be getting it soon. Even though when we walked in it was not busy. It startedt to get busy about 20 minutes afer we were already there. after an hour and 20 minutes we again asked what the problem was. We wer rudely treated and a blond medium build waitress treated us poorly and gave us lame excuses about being busy and only having one fryer in the kitchen. We saw several panzarottis going to people that got there way after us and the waiter gave us the excuse that they must have pre ordered. Even when we first got to the restaraunt we waited for over 5 minutes to be seated. Keep in mind when we got there the restaraunt was nearly empty. The waiter that we had seemed old and uninterested. The waitresses were snippy and unfriendly. I have been going to this restaraunt since 1981. I will never go there nor will I ever recomend this restaraunt again. Something has cganged there. They always were a little slow but because the food was good I overlooked it. Now the service has sunk so low that there is no point in going. My recomendation is to avoid this place like the plague.

This experience was a nightmare. Horrible service The waiters look like they are ready for the retirment home. And they have about as much interest in service as a lazy elephant. I guess the food was pretty good when we finally got it, but by that time who cares. We just wanted to get out of there. I'm sure the waiter was not impressed with no tip on such a big bill but for that kind of service they arent even worth minimum wage.

This restaraunt is the pits. The wait staff is very indifferent and unfriendly. I can't see that they make much in tips. Although some of our party did leave tips I wouldn't. Not for that horrible service. They should have been tipping me. My pasta was cold when I got it so that sucked as well. I recommend no one ever go to this restaraunt. Avoid it like the plague.

This review is for Pizza we got as take out from the Tony's Pizza outlet on Wharncliffe at Mount Pleasant. This was absolutely the worst pizza I've ever had the misfortune of eating in my 40+ years. We have eaten at the Dundas East location and found everything satisfactory, but this pizza from the outlet at Wharncliffe and Mount Pleasant gave new meaning to the term cardboard woody crust, the cheese was lumpy and plastic, greasy, and had a distinctly awful taste. The kids who are vacuums at their age, ended up throwing it in the garbage, not being able to finish. Two large cheese pizza for $38 and they should be absolutely ashamed of themselves for trying to pass this abomination off as food. We'll not be back.

There is only one place in the world to get panzarotti. We emigrated to Canada the same year Tony opened up. I have been a lifetime patron. I have travelled extensively and have tried many copies of Tony's panzarotti and none have ever been able to compare. BUT! Tony's recently switched the style of ham. I no longer add this to my panzarotti as I can only taste salt when I do. Ohhhh, Tony. Please bring back the old ham.
