Although My Music Centre officially opened its commercial location in 2007, Denise had the idea brewing in her head for decades longer. “I’ve been teaching music since I was probably 16,” she says, recalling a path that included having children and attending teachers' college. “After the fourth one was going to school, I started teaching private lessons in my home, and then discovered a program called, ‘Music for Young Children’.”
Soon, her living room was growing too small to accommodate all the youngsters she instructed, so she opened My Music Centre. Located in a formal music studio, the centre continued to place an emphasis on children through the Music for Young Children program.
