Fani Desbiens and Véronique Fennel worked together for several years as hairdressers in the same large salon. Although they had complementary strengths and viewed work in the same way, they hadn't planned on going into business together. But when in 2015 they heard about a small location becoming available, it made them think.
They soon left their employer on good terms and created a small work space based on their personalities and goals, opening Les Coiffeuses in December 2015. Before moving, the women fully refurbished the location from floor to ceiling under the supervision of FNY design, who built all the custom furniture. The walls are now no longer adorned with dizzying pictures of hairstyles; instead, they are covered with screen prints by Montreal artists Louis Bouvier and Pony, who is a client and a good friend of Fani. The result is an aesthetic and welcoming space.
