The concept of rural water lines running across fields and open spaces of Southern Iowa was merely a dream in 1975. Today, after much hard work and cooperation, SIRWA has over 4,000 miles of pipeline installed to transport quality drinking water to the residents and communities of Southwest Iowa. To further this concept, SIRWA now has installed, and operates, municipal wastewater systems in several communities.Currently SIRWAs district covers all unincorporated areas of the Iowa counties of: Adair (except the Northeast portion thereof), Adams, Clarke, Decatur, Ringgold, Taylor, and Union along with portions of Cass, Guthrie, Lucas, Madison, Montgomery, Page and Warren counties.
