We are extremely fortunate to have Baldwin Street. This little enclave of restaurants not only offers a variety of dining choices on one strip, most have patios, making it the perfect summer destination. To help you navigate through the many options, I’ve selected my top 5 five places in Baldwin Village:
One of the smallest restaurants in the city also happens to be one of the most romantic. Squeezed together in this tiny space, sparks are gonna fly. And while Le Gaffe is open for breakfast, lunch and brunch, cozying up during dinner is best. The menu offers everything from pizzas, pastas, risotto and wonderful mains like Butterflied filet of Atlantic Salmon (that’s a first), New York Striploin, Lamb Sirloin and Osso Bucco. Date night just got exciting again.
Bodega’s large corner patio, and three-course prix fixe menus (Lunch $23, Dinner $35), make dining alfresco a breeze. French, Spanish, and Mediterranean inspired dishes offer diners a variety of options. The pre-fixe lunch menu alone is superb
Matahari might look unassuming from the outside, but they happen to offer one of the most unique combinations of cuisines in the city: Malay, Chinese, Peranakan (Nyonya) and Indian food. A wicked blend of sweet, sour, salty, crunchy, and spicy dishes delight the palate and offers a welcome change from typical Asian selections. And lucky you, now you can check "Try Peranakan food" off your list.
It’s never too hot for soup and it’s always time for a satisfying bowl of ramen. Kinton does it superbly (there’s a reason there’s lineups) and this slim, slip of a place makes grabbing a quick meal easy. And while they are quickly expanding around town, it’s nice to be able to go to Kinton’s first location, where it all began.
