Enjoy Montreal’s Cabane Panache et bois rond 2016

Can you feel the excitement? Yes, it’s that time of year again, when the festivities kick into high gear on Promenade Wellington for the 6th edition of Cabane Panache et bois rond. Running from March 18-20, the event celebrates traditional music, dance and good grub. There’s also a general store and a unique lumberjack camp. Here’s a list of the great restaurateurs on board for this year’s Cabane Panache!

Station W

1
3852, rue Wellington, Verdun, QC H4G 1V2

Station, because people stop by Station W, and W for Wellington. And why do people stop by? For the casual atmosphere, for soup, coffee or a grilled cheese sandwich that is served in eight different ways, from feta and spinach to Provolone and prosciutto, and goat cheese and apricot. Many breakfast options are also available, as well as an abundance of joie de vivre. On the menu for the Panache event: a grilled cheese sandwich (fittingly) made with French toast, maple bacon and cheddar cheese. For dessert, try the chocolate and maple bread pudding.

Boulangerie Rustique Sweet Lee's

2
4150, rue Wellington, Verdun, QC H4G 1V7

It's impossible to walk around this shop without wanting to devour everything. Muffins, croissants, pastries ... how can you say no to a chocolate-espresso croissant? Or a lemon-blueberry-raspberry croissant? The triple chocolate brownie will make you cry with happiness and will give your kids the energy they need to run for a week. On the menu for the Panache event: a maple brioche, bacon confit, a dark chocolate brownie, and maple caramel. We’re checking the forecast, and it says: sugar rush!

Fromagerie Copette Et Cie

For dessert, a maple sugar waffle cone awaits you.

Restaurant Rita

6
3681 Rue Wellington, Verdun, QC H4G 1V1

Balconville bills itself as a gourmet pub, and it has the clientele to fit with that description. Here, you can enjoy a warm atmosphere, good beer and good food. Burgers, grilled fish tacos, pork croquettes and much more. How many restaurants offer a tarte tatin (an upside-down tart) worthy of this name? Not many, but Balconville is one of them! On the menu for the Panache event: Spicy hot chocolate with maple whiskey (the latter only for older guests) and the "Sortilège du balcon" (charm of the balcony) shooter.

Villa Wellington

7
4701, rue Wellington, Verdun, QC H4G 1X2

Villa Wellington’s menu offers guests a taste of South America, and is ideal for anyone who has never had the good fortune to explore this delicious cuisine. The focus is on Peruvian dishes, but there’s also a bit of Mexican, Italian, and North American. On the menu for the Panache event: Pisco sour cocktail (lime juice and maple syrup) with egg white, all served in a cone to which maple and lime cotton candy are added. Also try the Peruvian shooter (coconut milk, pisco, cinnamon, maple and cardamom).

Bar Palco

8
4019, rue Wellington, Verdun, QC H4G 1V6

This neighbourhood bar honours "chansonniers" (Quebec folk singers/song writers) and artists from all walks of life and offers its customers a wonderful choice of cultural activities within its walls. For the Cabane Panache event, enjoy a Whiskey Collins – or John Collins – made with carbonated water, whiskey, maple sugar syrup, and lemon. And we remind you that they have Guinness on tap, St. Patrick's Day requires it!

Bagel Saint-Lo

9
5411, rue de Verdun, Verdun, QC H4H 1K6

Coffee, bagels, music, omelettes, and smiles ... people come here to satisfy their craving for a good fresh bagel and for the relaxed and very friendly atmosphere. Enjoying its decor is an activity in itself! On the menu for the Panache event: a bagel with maple braised ham and melted cheese.

Crèmes Boboule

Are you more of a sweet type? Then the snowflakes and maple syrup crêpe is for you. Why not order both and please your split personality?

La Marquise Express

11
4136A rue Wellington, Verdun, QC H4G 1V7

Admitted and unrepentant carnivores will be happy. This Wellington Street steakhouse offers ... well, of course, beef, prepared and served the way you want it. On the menu for the Panache event: a poutine called "de campagne" (country-style): ham, cheese curds and "special" sauce. Do not leave without saying "bonjour" to dessert: a maple "pudding chômeur" (literally "unemployment pudding", a dessert created by female factory workers at the beginning of the Great Depression in the province of Quebec). Happiness can be so simple...
