We’re all about spending our summer evenings on a terrace sipping cocktails! Some of these terraces serve food, some don’t at all, but they are all about enjoying cocktails on a hot summer night in Montreal. [Image credit: iStock.com/ ShotShare]
Charcuterie, wine and cheese on a quaint terrace on Park Avenue in Outremont. This is what Buvette Chez Simone is all about. They don’t take reservations so show up early and nab a seat – and if you're feeling peckish they have a great menu. This wine bar also serves beer and has cocktails too. It’s one of our favourite places to stop for a drink all year round.
Waverly Bar is on St-Viateur (oddly it’s not on Waverly) and offers a fun terrace in the Mile End. The length of the bar is all glass and it opens onto a terrace that sits on the corner of St-Laurent Boulevard. Eclectic lighting, delicious cocktails, and that relaxed hipster vibe – this neighborhood bar is perfect for a low-key night with cocktails. They also make grilled cheese sandwiches if you start to feel hungry after throwing back a few!
We love Furco any time of year but in the summer it has a lovely little terrace tucked onto Mayor Street, right outside the bustle of the Quartier des spectacles in downtown Montreal. This cocktail bar is perfect: they don’t sell bottles so no need to deal with that obnoxious crowd, and it’s easy to get a seat. They have a few gourmet bar bites, but their cocktails are what they’re known for. Definitely a spot that we keep returning to.
Located atop the Place D’Armes Hotel in Old Montreal, Terrasse Place D’Armes is a rooftop terrace that’s always bustling on hot summer nights. Perfect for a 5 à 7 or late-night drinks, the DJ really sets the mood, and whether it’s a sunny day or hot night, we love coming here for a drink. Terrasse Place D’Armes serves some delicious signature cocktails that will make you fall in love with Montreal all over again.
New City Gas is a popular concert venue with a gorgeous terrace. Their 5 à 7 on Thursdays is popular with the business crowd and is one of Montreal’s best. On weekends they turn things up a notch, bringing in DJs from all over the world. We recently saw Mark Knight spin on their terrace and loved the atmosphere. But it's those Thursdays that stand out as the place to be during their 5 à 7.
