we went for a friend's birthday dinner. her and her bf love the place. they talk about it all the time. i have heard mixed reviews about the place.
going online and checking out menu didn't look too appealing to me. regular food with a high price and over stuffed with "expensive" words for simple ingredients
i had a glass of the Chardonnay from usa. excellent should have order 1.2 liter. i shared the sicilian mussel except made not spicy (don't like spicy food). the broth has aromatic and delightful. nice tomatoes, olives and onion broth. mussels were plump and tasty. the table bread was amazing. i usually steer away from bread because it is dry and garbage. but this was warm, soft and fluffy in the middle with a slight chew and crispy on outside.
i ordered the shrimp and scallop carciofi (fettucine) made without cream and with tomato instead. the pasta was cooked perfectly, scallops a bit fishy, shrimps were poached perfectly. a bit too much tomato but im a bigger fan of cooked pasta perfect el dente.
people sitting around me ordered veggie gnocchi (she loved it), short rib gnocchi (he wolfed it down and wanted more), prosciutto fuselli (she said pasta was amazing too slow portion and prosciutto tasted like bacon, pork chop dinner (thought it was amazing), smoked chicken el la vodka (he said was ok).
food was good better than i expected. a bit over priced but it was a friend's birthday.Read more
I have been to Jack Astor's only a few times, and both times the service was great! The atmosphere was also great, very fun, and exciting. You get crayons to colour on the tables and there are funny quotes around the restaurant. My only problem is that when I ordered my food which was a very simple order, it was wrong. My caesar salad had carrots in it and no croutons! Although the food is great and mistakes are made, it is just inconvenient. Aside from the mistakes, it is a great place to go to just hang out with friends, and have a drink or 2. The servers and waitresses are very kind, and they are always on top of everything. The restaurant is also never a mess, I never seen anything even left on the tables when another customer leaves, they are on top of it all right away which is really good.Read more

I have lived in Dundas, Ontario for most of my life and have visited the Collins Brewhouse many times. I use the term ‘visited’ as if I am visiting someone’s home for the simple reason, each and every member of the Collins Brewhouse staff welcomes visitors’ as if they are family.
It is a quaint pub and restaurant that adds more charm to the town of Dundas. The service is just as incredible as the food they serve. The southwest chicken wrap and chicken wings are super, I would without a doubt recommend these two dishes.
Also, I have attended staff parties in the basement of the Collins Brewhouse. The accommodations that they provide such as; pool tables, a personal served bar, a big screen television, and food served in a buffet self-serve format, provide customers with fun and entertaining memories.
As you can see in my review for the Collins Brewhouse, I would most definitely recommend this restaurant to all age groups. If you like good company, good food and a great atmosphere this is the restaurant to check out!Read more

So, good. The food was delicious, though not gastro-pubby, but rather pub grub. It could use new carpeting throughout. The stand out for us was the service. Our server was helpful, knew the menu inside out, and when we asked for some changes to make one of the meals heart healthy they went out of their way to make it happen. We were seated in a quiet corner...easier for my Dad that he didn't have to climb up a step...but there was loud laughter coming from around the corner. Everyone seemed to be greeted by name at the door. Our server was a nice young girl, but everyone paid attention to us, helping to deliver the meal, checking on how we liked our meals. I worked all through college as a waitress, and I am kind of picky about service attitude, and this was wonderful.Read more
