While Zen is our favourite Japanese Restaurant, my boyfriend and I have enjoyed dining here for their enoki maki (thin slices of beef wrapped around enoki-Japanese mushrooms). Their nigiri and sashimi while delicious is not a priority for us to order as they serve very thin small pieces for the price you pay. We have also had their sukiyaki (we cook ourselves on the table) and it is large enough for 3 people, although much more expensive ($60 for 2 people which includes rice and raw egg for dipping) than other restaurants where we have enjoyed the same. The sukiyaki comes traditionally (as they served), with slices of thin sukiyaki beef, tofu, Chinese cabbage, green onion, oyster mushrooms, shitake mushrooms and regular mushrooms, transparent thin noodles and onion. Their broth was excellent-not too sweet. A great meal to have on a cold day. Read more

My husband recommended this place so we decided to have brunch and try their Japanese breakfast (omurice). It's an omelette filled with fried rice and chicken Breast and a side of coleslaw; so delicious and filling. price is roughly $9-10. We also tried their polar beer (icing foam on top). outstanding...the food was incredible, very fresh, rolls were well put together and just a splendid assortment of items to choose from. The service was very good, they didn't miss one item of about 20 ordered off the all you can eat menu and they were quite pleasant compared to other Sushi restaurants I have visited. Atmosphere was also good, with a choice of open table or booth. I used to drive to Scarborough for good Sushi, I will no longer be making that trip. Even if you are not into sushi, it is worth a trip to Kakemono! My boyfriend LOVES sushi and although I don't mind it, it is not my favourite meal in the world. However, I love Teriyaki and the Teriyaki dishes on Kakemono's all you can eat menu are wonderful. The prices are reasonable when compared to the price you may for most all-you-can-eat places and the food was great. We will be going back in the near future! Read more
