Calgary Humane Society is more than a shelter. We connect the lives of animals and people. We have been providing an essential community service since 1922. Calgary Humane Society (CHS) shelters more than 7700 homeless animals each year. We investigate animal cruelty, provide emergency boarding and help reunite lost pets with their owners. Support our initiatives by visiting our on-site pet store, where 100% of the proceeds from purchases support Calgary Humane Society.more...See more text
last week we stopped in to look at some new dogs for our home. They had a huge selection which in one hand is really good and in the other its really sad. I have grown up with dogs and animals and with our new home i was really excited to get a new dog. As much fun as puppies are, its the older ladies and gents that have really had a rough ride...So we are still waiting to find the right dog for our home. They told us to check weekely and if we see someone we like to come down and meet them! We are really excited and are looking forward to our new friends!
If your spring cleaning includes decluttering your pet’s toys and old bedding you may want to donate these items to the Humane Society to help homeless pets. Items on the wish list include toys for dogs, cats and exotic animals. The society also needs towels, flat sheets and blankets, carpet pieces, leashes, cleaning soaps and scrubbers.
Located right inside the Calgary Humane Society in the city’s deep southeast, the Pet Gear Store is loaded with food, toys, trees, leashes, dishes and everything else you need for a newly adopted or existing pet. You can feel good about your purchases, here, too, since all proceeds from store purchases go toward the 8,500 animals the CHS cares for each year. The inventory is curated with an eye to humane treatment of animals, best training practices and fun.
The Calgary Humane Society does the important job of finding homes for neglected animals, and educates the public on proper pet care. Why not head into the CHS to give a little furry creature a forever home, or volunteer your time and services to help keep animals safe and happy?
