While many children were busy dreaming of becoming firefighters or ballerinas, Adele Maines was dreaming up floor plans and decorating schemes. After establishing a career as a letter carrier for the government, she decided to switch courses and pursue her childhood dream of interior design instead.
“I wanted to do something I felt passionate about, for as long as that passion remained,” Adele says. “I’ve been in the industry since 1991 and I have yet to get bored. I guess you either have a natural aptitude for it or not. You can learn the basics, but if you have an innate sense for it, you will love it more.”
When her mentor Gisela Klar decided to retire in 2009, Adele wanted to carry on the name and continue the business practices she learned from Gisela. “I have been really fortunate with the mentors I have learned from along the way,” says Adele.
