Expected Better

Have lived in the area for years and my step son at one time even tended bar here. However got off to a rocky start when the waitress attending our table reeked of cigarette smoke - not a good start. My meatloaf just warm but warmer than the mashed potatoes. Chicken fingers and fries other members of our party had looked like they came out of a TV dinner. Had to find our waitress to pay and we were only 1 table of 4 occupied. Dessert came right out of the freezer I think for the Peanut Butter Boston Cream Pie which was a cake not a pie. To close get a take out pizza you will be better off. To bad because in entertaining friends from out of town really wanted more, can any one say the Blue Moon next trip out.

Great Country Pub

Hadn't been out to EJ's in a few years and thought we should give it a try again. Went with my wife and another couple that had never been. Had a great time. Greeted pleasantly at door and told to seat ourselves. We were lucky to get the round table near the bar(it had a sign explaining it was called the "Stammtisch" you have to go to figure it out). Service was friendly and food came promptly. lots of interesting selection of draught. I chose a Dunkel Wiesse which i had never seen before - very good. Server said most of the food was made in house and it definitely tasted that way. I am tired of the chains with boil in bag food. Pulled pork was great. Easily as good as the smokehouse in kw. We will be going back for sure.

Was there a few weeks back on a Friday nite around 7:30 pm. It wasn't too busy. Service was pleasant but slow. We ate in the restaurant part as opposed to the bar side. Simple food fair - garlic bread and cheese, Mike's chicken wings for us and kids nachos for our little one. EJ's always have pretty good wings - good size and well sauced. This night they were perhaps a bit overcooked (a tad dry) and if our server would have come back sooner rather than later - we probably would have asked for a new batch. But she didn't show - we were hungry so we ate them up. Our little one loved her nachos - hard to mess that up nachos and cheese :) It was ok - but not as good as we have had in the past.

Really neat little place in the country. We were doing a fall drive around Mennonite country and decided to stop in for lunch. Cute, rustic, atmosphere in a very old building with antique metal bars on the windows. One definite plus was a friendly waitress who could rhyme off all 20 brands of beer. The fellows ordered the Moosehead, received a scratch ticket and both won a cute T-shirt, advertising EJ's. My Buffalo chicken sandwich was standard (frozen breaded chicken) as were the fries. My husband and friend ordered the schnitzel sandwich which they both enjoyed and our other friend got a combination of spring rolls, very attractively presented, and wings, which were very large. Coffee was very good, apparently a local brand. Great place to go for a light lunch and plenty of atmosphere.

An interesting stop in the small town of Baden...

An interesting stop in the small town of Baden, smack in the middle of farm town, southwestern Ontario. The dining room, as mentioned before, is the attraction. The walls host an eclectic mix of used farm equipment, vintage beer signs, old paintings, and vintage food and beverage sinage. The bar room has a tin ceiling from the 1800s that was, as rumour has it, painted by a folk artist who paid room and board by doing the paintings. Music was quiet and enjoyable. I liked the feel to the place. Service here was good, above average. I had a schnitzel sandwich with onion rings for lunch, and it was tasty. Portions were big and the prices were right. I had a pint of Stonehammer Dark, which was fresh and hit the spot. There were 12 taps in total, with 4 micro taps, which was more than I expected for a bar in such a small town. Certainly worth a stop if you happen to be in Baden.
