Generous portions at a good price!
I frequently drop by Grecos and the restaurant has never failed to deliver fantastic Greek food served in generous portions and at a great price; normally around $10 - $15 for lunches and around $20 for dinner. Service can be a bit slow at times and you may find yourself having to wave the waiters down to get their attention, but I have always been greeted warmly. For their appetizers, I highly recommend their Saganaki (since nothing speaks of deliciousness quite like a freshly prepared, pan-fried, flambéd cheese). For the extremely ravenous or for those in a large group, the Grecos Pikilia is a perfect way to sample a large variety of different appetizers in small portions. A word of warning - the platter can be rather filling so plan ahead to leave room for the mains and the desserts. Of the many times I've visited Grecos, I had the chance to try different items from both the lunch and dinner menus. The piece of resistance, for me, is their off-the-menu Lamb Shank special, served with a side of greek potatoes and veggies, if memory serves me correctly. If you're a lamb-lover, get this dish! The meat is fall-off the bone tender, perfectly marinated, and cooked to perfection. This dish alone can convince me to keep coming back to the restaurant. For those wanting something alternative to the lamb, their souvlaki and shishkebab are also fantastic and they are always very filling...especially when it comes to the large portions of their sides. All in all, good service and good atmoshphere since the restaurant can be a bit too dark in terms of lighting but the decors are pretty standard. The food, on the other hand, is absolutely fantastic. Be prepared to make reservations for dinners though; like most Kingston restaurants in downtown, Grecos is relatively small and the place gets filled up fast.
