Been going to the malibu east London for 20+ years but it seems like since the new management came in the food quality has substantially decreased. Service is always good but don't see myself ever going back.
Absolutely terrrrrrrrible. We have visited this location many times and have returned after one bad experience but that was a mistake. Today the food was first cold (and I'm talking like fridge cold) so we sent it back then our waffles come out again but they aren't cooked all the way through so it's runny mixture as bite into it. After that everyone else was done so we just didn't bother with asking for the waffles to be cooked again. Then our server informed us that they don't tip out to kitchen but they DO tip out to the management, which is absolutely not acceptable. No server should be tipping out unless it's to the kitchen staff which a lot of restaurants do. That put the cherry on the terrible experience so we will not be going back there again which is a shame because we loved going there.
MALIBU WEST - Such a perfect way to start the day. The atmosphere and the owner are so inviting, it makes me want to go all the time. Portions are perfect. I've gone for dinner a few times and the specials they have are so cheap for the amount you get; salad, main, and choice of desert. I had the coconut cream pie and it was so amazing AND homemade!! Now I'm starving
I think I'll make a choice by not eating the poorly prepared food or putting up with substandard service. Won't go there again. It keeps getting worse.
typical diner food and atmosphere the food is fresh and taste is good. I would go here again. The prices are higher than the last time here. Overall I would suggest going here for a breakfast or lunch
This is my favorite restaurant in London and my wife and I have been going there for years. The staff are great, as is the food, and the prices. Whenever I have my band (Helix) in town or other people in the business, I take them there.
Always a great choice... especially for breakfast skillets. They are the best around!! Are you going to get an elegant extravagant meal? No... but its a diner! And the food is always awesome. The servers are great to boot!
I love this place!! I love comfort food and the Malibu has the best ever. We were seated within seconds, had a fresh hot cup of coffee within minutes and nice clean menus to look over. The waitress was very attentive indeed...never saw the bottom of my coffee cup once:. She was polite, friendly but not intrusive. The restaurant was clean and tidy, smelled wonderful and the clientele was varied...moms and kids, business suits, elderly couples. I will definately be going back.
Was greeted and seated within seconds of walking thru the door. Hostess took my drink(s) order and said the server would be here momentarilly. Server arrived promptly with my beverages and to take my food order. Ordered the panzarotti. It arrived quick, hot. It was bursting at the seams with filling. The pepperoni, cheese, mushrooms, green peppers were all fresh. Was disappointed with the meat sauce though. One seasoning in the sauce was overpowering. Drinks were all refilled promptly. Restaurant overall was very clean & tidy. Friendly service.
ive been to the new malibu twice. the first time it was a busy saturday morning. i had to wait to be seated but it was no problem. there was a wait for the food as well... to be expected. i returned again today, on a tuesday and my food was timely and excellent. the waitress was very friendly, and even gave me directions to some places i needed to go. very helpful. there is just busy times and calm times.the food was delicios. i will definately return.
Went to the new location on Wonderland Rd. on Saturday August 15, 2009. A friend and I ordered the "Panzerotti for 2" which cost $17 plus tax! So, we expected a huge, football-sized panzerotti for that price. We waited for our food forever. Then, when our panzerotti came, it was 2, flat, flaky, pastry-like pieces that were very small. The only good part was the side of meat sauce. We were very disappointed and were still hungry at the end of the meal.
New Location - Wonderland/Oxford Street. I visted on a Saturday morning for breakfast. It was pretty busy. I was impressed with the decor of the restaurant. Nothing fancy, but I liked the retro feel of it. I found the food to be of good value. The service was the only downside. After I received my coffee, no one ever came back to ask if I wanted a refill. After I was done with my breakfast, it was awhile before the dirty dishes were cleared. The server was also not too quick with getting the bill to the table.
Has potential Don't know if it's just because they just opened but overall disappointed. Ordered the breakfast special and my friend ordered an omelet. My food was extremely cold, although large portions but who likes cold toast? In contrast my friend ordered the omelet and the only thing that came with the omelet were the eggs... no toast, home fries or meat. The restaurant seemed to have a lot of waitresses who were all standing around while our coffee cups sat empty.
Visisted the new location on Wonderalnd RD. N. for lunch today. Great food, service needs a little work! It's kind of pricey, but the portions were of good size. We enjoy breakfast almost every Sunday at Dundas St. location...Awesome, we've never had a bad experience and service is fantastic. I hope the new location(which is right across from my office) will take a few notes from the original on the service issue. Keep up the great food and good luck!!
I've only ever been for the breakfast special, seems like the rest is a little too pricey for my liking, but I'm pretty cheap. Great food though, my friends and I have frequented it many mornings after long nights. The homefries are delicious, probably my favourite part. Overall good experience, good diner atmosphere and breakfast is tasty.
Me and my friends go here often for the best breakfast in town. I typically get a standard breakfast (eggs, sausage, hashbrowns, toast.) for about $6 or a skillet for around $8. Both are amazing. The service is admittedly not that great... It's always packed and the servers seem overwhelmed... They've forgotten thing like forks or toast for us several times. However, they are always polite. I've went in ONCE for something other than breakfast it was nothing sensational, but it was alright. If your going to malibu, go for their breakfast, any time of day. We've went 8am, or 3pm, we've went with a party of 3 or up to 15. It's always great!
Had cold breakfast an cold service. What ever happened to old fashioned dining? Took a child with us- they had no colouring, no balloons and no nice way about themselves to the kids... Can't go back for a while.
unbelievable - wanted to spend some time and stuff with my familyand went here- where it was terrible. seemed quiet, slow and not busy. in the tough times it is too much to get average food, less than average for our experiece. this place will never last.
nice service but the fries are not like the old nice thick cut ones that I remember
Since I first ordered from this restaurant, I was impressed. The food tastes very good, and the prices are decently priced. The servings are a good size, and I've never been given cold food. The wait staff is good as well. The only problem I've had is getting mayo on my turkey club when I asked for no mayo, and instead of scrapping it off and giving it to me again like I've had at so many other places, they apologized and made me a whole new one. I don't mind little screw ups as long as they are fixed, cause everyone is human and makes mistakes. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, and even my fiance enjoys eating there, and he dislikes eating out greatly. I would definately check this place out. I wish I could say I've tried more there, but the turkey club and poutine calls to me everytime I go there! Delicious!
