Have dined here on several occassions and the food has always been fantastic.
We had heard great things about this place but were generally disappointed with our experience. The general atmosphere was okay, but the music was way too loud and I could barely hear my partner across the table. The food took a long time, and when it came it was mediocre at best. I don't mind a little bit of spice, but my dish was far far too spicy (even though the menu labelled it as mild-medium) and nothing to write home about. The vegetables were sparse and the chicken was rubbery and overly plentiful. My partner is a vegetarian and there were very few options for him (most dishes contained at least fish sauce) and his dish when it came seemed like something I could have made at home. It might have been an off night, but I have had better Thai food, so we will eat elsewhere next time we have the craving.
I have been coming to Siam Bistro for over 8 years. The food is fantastic - the best I've tasted in Ottawa! Service tonight was not up to usual standards, but this is not typical. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Siam Bistro to friends and family... in fact, I have many times!
I've been receiving such rave reviews about this restaurant that I decided to try it out recently. We were seated pretty quickly, but had I not have asked the waitress if a table for two was available we would have waited longer. Once seated it took half an hour for the waiter to take our order. The food arrived separately, about 10 minutes apart. The couple next to us was just being served as we were leaving and they ordered before us. The Pad Khee Mao tasted alright, but was nothing special, and my tablemate would say the same about her food. About 20 minutes after eating, the aftertaste of the food was horrid, and the MSG must have been put on strong because i reacted to it. The decor was bland at best, not much screamed thai except for the waitresses(who were very polite). The restaurant was VERY loud, and crammed. I will not go here again, and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
I have NEVER had a bad experience at this restaurant. I always enjoy prompt and courteous service and the most delicious Thai food Ottawa has to offer! I especially love their soups.

Served in a quaint and relaxing setting with elegant décor, the dishes at Siam Bistro feature the wide-ranging cuisine of Thailand, including yummy salads, curries, seafood, rice and noodles, meat dishes, and the chef’s special recommendations. Owner Montha McGinnis decided to open the restaurant because she wanted to share her passion for great Thai food with residents of Ottawa. She now runs the Hintonburg gem after having taught Thai cooking lessons for over ten years.
