I was there today with my mom to renew her passport.... the staff were friendly and the service was fast... it took under 1 hour from the time we got there to when we left...we were lucky that there was only 3 people ahead of us.

This is the worst run consulate in Toronto. Their Staff are unfriendly and will work very hard to make you go away, rather than help. They will overcharge you for anything you request. Often the paper work you get from them is wrong forcing you to return again. They never open on time and there is always a line. If at all possible don't try not to have to deal with them.
