A trendy and sophisticated restaurant with authentic, fresh and delicious cuisine. It's better to go with a party of people, that way you can sample more of the tasty dishes. My particular favourite is the glass noodles. Most restaurants do a terrible job with these, but here they are cooked to perfection.
This is the best Thai restaurant in the GTA. Sasi, the chef is amazing. She runs the place with Allan who handles the duties out front. Together they make magic. The food here is simply the best. My favourites are the pumpkin soup with crispy morning glory and Sasi's #54 chicken curry. These dishes are simply to die for. Other favourites include the lemongrass soup and the stir-fried glass noodles. The atmsophere and decor is great. It feels very cosy, not stuffy at all. Allan is very welcoming and makes everyone feel comfortable. He will introduce you to other diners as if we were all just friends sitting down to a meal. Over the years, I have brought many people here, some having travelled all over the world, and everyone is amazed by the food. In some cases Megrai has been the location for that year's company Christmas meal.

I don’t know why Mengrai Thai doesn’t make it onto more "Best Of" lists. After all, this is where Mick Jagger (!!) likes to dine. Specializing in authentic Northern Thai cuisine, the menu has offerings you won’t find elsewhere in the city such as Golden Pumpkin Soup ($7.50); Sasi’s #54 Red Chicken Curry with Lychee served in a fresh carved pineapple ($18.50); Vegetarian Tibetan Mountain Bai Ling Mushrooms with mix greens ($15.95) featuring rare, nutritious “roof of the world” gourmet mushrooms; and Bankers Braised Curry Lamb with peach ($17.95). Drool.
