We have been to Mediteraneo several times. Each visit has always delivered an excellent meal. I usually have the Lamb dinner and while you might pay a bit more for this, it is a very large order, with delicious lemon roast potatoes, tzaziki, rice and a greek salad. Enough to share or take home to tmorrows lunch. I have also had the lamb souvlaki dinner and while you might only get one skewer of meat, you also get the rice, potato, salad and tzaziki. Service is excellent, and friendly. Highly recommend it.
We were greeted warmly at the door and shown to a table where we waited about 3 minutes for a waitress who introduced and made us feel at home even though the place was packed. When the booth across from us left our server quickly bused the table so we could sit there. She made an excellent recommendation with the Greek beer Mythos. We order calamari which was tender and clearly made from scratch. We weren't planning on ordering an app but my boyfriend had ordered the stuffed sole and the server informed us it takes a little longer since it's made to order which was nice. It was worth the wait. I had the spankopita meal which contained some of the best spankopitas I've ever had and an amazing(and very generous) portion of Greek salad. The owner and chef, Andy, came around and quality checked all the tables personally with a warm smile. He had a free piece of baklava sent over to my boyfriend since it was his birthday. All and all it was a lovely warm atmosphere and dinning experience. Great for a mid-price casual date or family dinner.
This was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had! We had a reservation for noon for 12 people and it took 1.5 hours to get our food, the server never asked us if we wanted more water, if we were ok, he never apologized, in fact, he didn’t do anything for our table. We went up 3 times to ask where our food was and kept getting pushed off. When they finally brought the food a couple of the orders were wrong. Typically in a situation such as this someone would apologize or offer some sort of compensation. There was nothing. We finally asked if they were planning on doing something about the bill. The server went to ask the manager and came back 10 minutes later to say that our drinks were taken care of. Three of the 12 people ordered something other than water. I have worked in a service industry before and this is not how you treat your customers. The server was smug, rude and full of attitude. On top of that, I did speak to the manager about the service and the response I received was even more alarming. His comment ‘you get your bill for free and you’re still complaining. I don’t need your business’. I am not normally a complainer but this was completely unacceptable. To Everyone, it doesn’t look like he needs your business.
The good news is that 8 people can walk in and get a table on a Saturday evening at 6:30, the bad news is that there's a reason. Food was ok, rice undercooked and moussaka was fairly salty. My biggest complaint is that a restaurant promoting themselves as a family restaurant has got it all wrong! We had 4 kids and 4 adults. The kids menu is fine and I even appreciate that the kids could not order chicken fingers or pizza for a change but when the meals came, there was "fancy" rice on the plate that none of the kids (nor most kids I know) would touch making them unhappy. Then the bill came and despite a menu advertising a free drink as part of the kids meal, we were charged $3 per kid drink. The waitress tried to dance around it, saying juice wasn't included... nor milk, nor soft drinks. They apparently changed the policy over a year ago but not the menu! Not sure why any restaurant would try to squeeze the extra $$ out of the kids meals and annoy the parents if they really wanted to cater to family restaurant. My best guess is they're happy catering to retirees and don't want the place overrun with the young families the neighbourhood looking for an alternative to the chain restaurants.
Great food and great service. I drank a lot of water after dinner, so the food must've been salty, but I didnt notice when I was enjoying my dinner. Would definately go back.
