The Hakka Chinese population in Toronto comprised of first or second generation of Chinese born in Calcutta, India. The word Hakka means 'Guest'. The Hakka Chinese are minority people who have emigrated from South China to places like India, Mauritius and Jamaica. In India, Calcutta was a primary location for Hakka Chinese to settle and further expand business opportunities such as dentistry, photography, leather tannery and Hakka chinese restaurant. Quite often our Indian customers have heard of 'Bentinck Street' and leather tanneries in Tangra, now populated with scores of Hakka Chinese restaurants.Since 1980's, most Hakka Chinese from India have settle in Toronto, Canada. The Chinese Indian flavour food is unique and different cooking style than the traditional or main stream Chinese food. Last takeout order ( 5 dishes ), found a rusty piece of metal on my food. When I called back the restaurant manager, I was treated with a rude attitude and his 1st comment to me after telling him about the piece of metal was "... which item had the metal, I will give you a credit on that " .
Was a long time customer of this restaurant (ever since it opened as an expansion from the original in Markham). .. service has been getting worse for a couple of years, but now the food is also garbage
Haven't been here for a while and was pleasantly surprised to find that they have redecorated. Replaced a number of tables with booths and that makes it much nicer inside. Food is great. Lots of variety. Excellent prices. The one thing about this place that annoys me is that they never bring your bill to the table -- I always have to go to the cash to find out how much the bill is and pay. Not a biggie but still annoying.
I went to this restaurant this evening, and I will never return!
They have many varied options for food, so I ordered chicken corn soup. It was decent until I was on my last spoon and I found something in my soup: a dirty fingernail! My dad called the waiter over, and once we told him that we had found a fingernail in my soup, he became very rude and disrespectful, and really defensive actually. His comment was: "Well, what do you want me to do? The soup is almost done! This has never happened before, and my chefs would never let something like this happen!" That is TERRIBLE customer service. He even stopped and looked at my fingernails! I do not bite my nails, and the nail was even clipped perfectly.
Would I step into that restaurant again? No. Would I commend their customer service? No. And would I recommend this place to anyone? NO.

we always come here when we're too lazy to cook. service is quick, portions are big (we always have leftovers to take home) and quality of food is consistent.
