I work in customer service, so I understand that things don't always go as planned. It is how an establishment deals with their mistakes that really shows how good they are , in my humble opinion. We go to Swiss Chalet all the time, the food is always hot and delicious and up to the Swiss Chalet Standard, the service is usually pretty good, quick for sure and the restaurant smells good and is clean. We often order take out from this location, and we have had a few problems, orders not being filled correctly, no gravy for the poutine, little things like that. One time we ordered and they called back 30 minutes later to tell us there was a snow storm and the delivery person went home! Needless to say I complained. I got a personal response from the Manager appologizing for our bad experience and comping us for two 1/4 chicken dinners! WOW, I thought that was just great. I get that mistakes are made, but I have never had anyone take responsibility and compensate me so quickly and politely! Since then we have ordered a few times and we haven't had anymore problems. I can't find the Waterloo location on this site but this review is about my experience there. Went on a Wednesday with girlfriends for drinks and nibbles in the bar. The service was awesome and the food was pretty quick and very tasty. We shared spinach dip, antojitoes and nachoes and we were stuffed! The Best Western Governor's Inn says classy from the moment you pull in the driveway and the lobby and professional staff continues this feeling. From a beautiful lobby to a restaurant/lounge that has the rich, comfortable feel of fine leather (although for the record there was no leather).Our server was attentive, polite and quite pleasant and although it was obvious that she was pushing the buffet there was no problems when I ordered off of the menu. This place gets a perfect 10 when it comes to atmosphere. I ordered the Governor's Chicken Schnitzel with mashed potatoes and the garden mix. The chicken schnitzel was prepared quite to my liking, cooked to perfection, moist on the inside and the breading was wonderfully crunchy and seasoned perfectly. The mashed potatoes were quite good, fluffy and smooth, and clearly not instant (a pet-peeve of mine is instant potatoes). The garden mix consisted of broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, green and red pepper slices and was steamed to perfection. I rate this meal a 9 out of 10, nearly flawless. Overall this restaurant gets 9.5 out of 10 and will say that I will defiantly be eating there again. Read more
